Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh will host an opening celebration for Moneypalooza, an exhibit designed to teach children about good money habits. The celebration is Saturday, February 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and will feature appearances by Frugal Freddie, Banker Ben, and Aunt Polly. Families can visit the Health Choices Marketplace at the Exposition Center of the N.C. State Fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20. The event is free for children 12 and younger, and there will be an Earthfare Kids’ Kitchen, where children can learn to make the right food choices. There will be a Children’s Dental Health Fair at Northgate Mall on Saturday. Children can get free toothbruhes and other dental care supplies as they learn about good dental care.

The Second W.G. Pearson Science Fair was a huge success! Students viewed more than 30 projects created by kindergarten through fifth graders during the school day. Parents and other visitors were able to see the projects from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 11.
Projects were reviewed by a panel of 5 judges,
who are local scientists and engineers. All participants received a trophy and certificate from Mrs. Rogers and Mr. Carter.

The Piedmont Wildlife Center will hold several programs for families. On November 7, there will be an Autumn Wild Plant Walk from 10:00 to noon. An Autumn Ecology Program will be held on November 14 from 10:00a.m. to noon. On November 15, there will a program on the Language of Birds from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. On December 4 there will be an Owl Prowl from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.. On December 6, there will be a program on Animal Tracking: Predators from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Another Owl Prowl will occur on December 11 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Stars and Stories, a storyfilled night beneath the sky will be held on December 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Programs are $10.00 for the first PWC family member and $5.00 for each additional family member. On October 24, families can meet Public Safety Heroes from the Durham Police Department from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. near Old Navy in Renaissance Center. Renaissance Center is the shopping center across Fayetteville Street from the Streets at Southpoint Mall. There will be a K-9 team, SWAT members, Mr. McGruff, the crime fighting dog, a motorcycle unit, a bouncy center, and a booth for making ID cards.

Tomorrow, October 24, the NCSSM will hold an event for Hispanic families with students in grades 6,7, and 8. The program is designed to make families aware of the school and its opportunities for students. NCSSM is a boarding school for students in the 11th and 12th grades. It is on a campus at the corner of Broad Street and Club Blvd. Some of our fourth graders work with NCSSM students on Wednesday afternoons twice a month.

Most families can find many interesting exhibits and activities at our N.C. State Fair in Raleigh. Children might enjoy milking a cow, for example. There is bus service to the fair that runs from the bus terminal downtown, for those who wish to avoid the parking situation at the fairgrounds.

The Museum of Life and Science will hold a Science Spooktacular with a ChemMystery Show on Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, October 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Dr Ken Lyles will have snakes, spiders, andf salmanders, and lots of science experiments.
